Email validation and verification API

Check an email address before it reaches your list. One call tells you whether the domain takes mail, whether the mailbox exists and whether it’s a throwaway inbox.

1 credit a lookup. 250 free credits every month, no card needed.

What every email check covers

Syntax
Catches typos and malformed addresses before anything else runs.
Domain and MX records
Whether the domain exists and has mail servers that can receive email.
Mailbox check
Asks the mail server over SMTP whether the mailbox exists. It stops before sending, so nobody gets an email.
Disposable inboxes
Flags addresses at throwaway services like Guerrilla Mail and 10 Minute Mail.
Role addresses
Spots shared inboxes such as info@, sales@ and support@ that rarely belong to one person.
Catch-all domains
Tells you when a server accepts every address, so a “deliverable” answer can’t be trusted.

Where teams use it

Sign-up forms
Stop throwaway and mistyped addresses at the door, before they cost you a free trial or a bounced welcome email.
List cleaning
Check a whole list before a campaign so bounces don’t hurt your sender reputation. Upload a CSV on any paid plan.
CRM imports
Score leads as they come in and route risky ones for review instead of to sales.

Pay for the lookups you run

One credit balance covers every check, so the same plan pays for email, phone, IP and domain lookups. A lookup that fails on our side costs nothing.

Questions

What’s the difference between email validation and email verification?

People use the words for the same thing. Strictly, validation checks the format and the domain, and verification checks that the mailbox exists. This API does both in one call, for 1 credit.

Does it send an email to the address?

No. It opens a conversation with the mail server, asks whether the mailbox exists, and hangs up before any message is sent.

What is a catch-all domain?

A domain whose mail server says yes to every address, real or not. The API flags it with catch_all: true so you can treat those addresses with care instead of trusting them.

Am I charged for invalid addresses?

Yes, an invalid address is still an answer and costs its credit. A check that fails on our side, such as a timeout, costs nothing.

Can I check SPF and DMARC too?

Yes. Add email_dns to the checks to get the domain’s MX, SPF and DMARC records. It’s free.

Will checking the same address twice cost twice?

Each call costs its credit, but a recent answer for the same address is reused for 24 hours, so repeat calls come back straight away. Send fresh=true to check again.
